A couple of people have mentioned that I have not actually said anything about myself
Well…here is a little.
I am 28, have a PhD in marine fish ecology and like pretty much anything to do with the natural world.
Ok, I left school and studied Marine Biology (BSc Hons) at Plymouth University where I graduated in 2006. Once I finished I thought it was time for some non-learning time (let’s leave it at that). Then 9 months later once I got the taste for marine biology back i worked as a research assistant at the Marine Biological Association for a summer. I then thought – winter is no fun in the UK so headed for a job near Tawau, Malaysia, where I worked on a number of projects including:
- Starting a sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra) hatchery
- Working on a prawn farm (Penaeus monodon & P. vannamei) and in a tiger grouper (Mycteroperca tigris) hatchery
- Managing a tiger grouper broodstock centre and hatchery
(please note I was not attempting to run around mangroves with a chainsaw scaring orangutans)
I then started a PhD (Marine fish ecology and MPA design) in 2008 between the School of Ocean Sciences, University of Bangor, Wales, and the MBA, UK which I completed earlier this year.
So, I reckon that’s enough. Cheers (26th Nov. 2012)
